We had our Final Competition for the 2017-2018 Geo Bee on Thursday morning. All 16 contestants did a remarkable job! Congratulations to all of you for making the final round.
Congratulations to Carl from Ms. Bertschmann's class for winning this year's Geo Bee. Carl is our repeat champions as he won last year's Dale Street GeoBee. Carl will now take an online exam with a chance to join the state competition and eventually the national competition with a chance to win a $50,000 college scholarship and a trip sponsored by National Geographic!
The Holiday Mall and the Holiday Flea Market were incredible successes this week at the Dale Street School. These events both benefit the Medfield Home Committee. I am honored to report that these two events raised $2,668! Wow! Thank you to all of the students, families, and staff who supported this wonderful cause. #compassion
Please watch this MCPE Movie which highlights the wonderful grants that have been funded in support of our schools.
Dale Street's Hour of Code lessons concluded this week (although Dale students are routinely involved in these types of activities). Please check out this AMAZING video created by Dale Street students and Library Media Specialist, Mrs. Cowell.

As a reminder, Common Sense Media has so many great tips for parents-- especially about specific apps, movies, books, etc for each grade level. It's a nice reminder at this time of year as kids get new electronics... there are plenty of apps/ websites our kids should not be using (and plenty they should be!).

This week students in Ms. Condon's and Ms. Curran's classes read the story "Mercedes and the Chocolate Pilot" (about the true story of the Candy Bomber, Lt. Halvorsen, who began "Operation Vittles" - dropping candy to kids living in West Berlin during the Berlin Airlift).
Students made their our own candy parachutes and reenacted the Candy Drop.
What a cool activity!
