October 7, 2016 - Week 6

Dear Dale Street Community,

This afternoon classes came together as grade levels to participate in an assembly.  PE teacher, Mr. Stevens facilitated the assembly which focused on tolerance, acceptance and being respectful of others.  Mr. Stevens also piggybacked this topic with the topic of bullying, which is discussed in great detail during health education classes.

Positive Referrals!!!

These students received a Positive Referral this week for demonstrating outstanding behavior and being super students.  Keep up the good work!

Clown Fears and Rumors

There has been some recent student concerns regarding the clown scares on social media. For those who are not in the social media loop, there are concerns about social media postings about creepy clown sightings around the country. Some students and families are feeling concerned that the clowns will be coming to Medfield schools to cause harm. This is being fueled by social media postings and rumors. The recommended adult response is to remind students that we have safety measures in place at school including locked doors and cameras that allow us to view visitors before they are admitted. We will continue with outdoor activities such as recess and P.E. Classes. If your child is significantly fearful, please contact Ms. Warner (Guidance Counselor), Mrs. Strekalovsky (School Psychologist), or me.

Bus Evacuation Drill - Tuesday, October 11th

Every year, the Dale Street School students participate in a Bus Evacuation Drill as part of Massachusetts state requirements.  These drills, similar to our fire and safety drills, are designed to prepare students in the event of an emergency.  Bus evacuation drills are conducted by the bus driver with the assistance of the School Resource Officer.  The driver will explain the purpose of the drill, demonstrate the procedure and students will then practice leaving the bus via the emergency exits.

There is no school on Monday, October 10th

in observance of Columbus Day and Wednesday, October 12th in observance of Yom Kippur.

Enjoy your long weekend and we look forward to seeing the kids back on Tuesday!

Sincerely,
Steve
