September 6, 2019 - Week 2

Hello Dale Street Community!

Week 2 was another fabulous one here at #beproudbedale.  A lot of project based learning, the start of instruments and our first fire drill.  It has really been a great start!

This week classes began visiting Mrs. Cowell in the library to get orientated with Dale Street's awesome LMC (Library Media Center).  Fantastic books and a great space had students smiling ear to ear!

In World Language this week, Señora LeVangie's Grade 4 students used class time to sharpen their speaking skills by introducing themselves to one another. ¡Muy bien!

Congratulations to our first Positive Referral recipient of the year!  Thank you for helping make Dale Street such a great place!

Ms. Bertschmann's fifth grade students had a visit this week from Dale Street math specialist, Mrs. Perachi.  Students had a blast participating in an awesome array game.

Thanks to Abby in Ms. McKenzie's class for reading today's book recommendation.  Abby recommended All's Faire in Middle School, by Victoria Jamieson because she was inspired by how the book had so many details and feelings.  Thanks Abby!

Our Makerspace is one of the fabulous areas within our school. Classrooms will begin visiting the Makerspace very soon.  We are looking for a few items to help bolster our Makerspace supplies.  If you could send any of these items in with your child/children, we would be very grateful.  Items can be brought to Mrs. Lowerre in the Makerspace  Thank you!

On Thursday, students in Ms. DiPesa's fourth grade classroom participated in "think outside the box" Thursday and followed that up with with a Sanford Harmony community challenge.  The challenge....build a paper airplane with only one hand each!! #collaboration

Mrs. Ross' and Mrs. Seaver's fourth grade classroom spent time this week discussing Dale Street's Core Values (Respect, Compassion, Collaboration, Continuous Growth) and how to apply them throughout the year in Room 5.  Great job!

Again this year, Dale Street School will have a Student Council.  The objective of this group will be to talk with their classmates about concerns/initiatives in their classroom and/or the school.  Student Council will consist of one student from each homeroom in Grades 4 and 5. There will also be an alternate selected from each homeroom.  Students interested in serving on Student Council must write a one paragraph letter of interest, which was distributed today and must be received by the close of school on September 13th.  The Student Council will meet on a Friday morning each month (starting in October) at 8:45 AM for about 35 minutes.  I would like to thank Mrs.Vancura who has volunteered again to work with me on the Dale Street School Advisory Council.

Check out the clever twist that Mrs. Nee's fifth grade students put on the "branches" of government.
