April 1, 2016 - Week 29

Happy Friday Dale Street!

Thank you to all the families who were able to join us for our Term II Positive Referral breakfast.  The Food Service department provided coffee, juice, and a variety of delicious treats for everyone to enjoy.  Thank you to them for all of their hard work organizing this event.  Lastly, a huge thank you to all of the students who continue to demonstrate outstanding character.  We are so proud of you for making such great choices each and every day!

Students in 5Co and 5Cu did a remarkable job creating and presenting their WWII research projects on Wednesday!  Congratulations on your finished projects!
I know how hard you all worked!

A letter was sent out today offering parents the opportunity to share information about their son/daughter for next year’s placement at Dale Street.  The information that you share will be used to assist me with the student placement process for the 2016 – 2017 school year.  When corresponding about placement, parents are asked to focus on the type of learning environment that best meets the strengths and needs of their child.  Please know that throughout the placement process our focus will be on placing your child in a classroom in which she or he will grow both academically and socially.

Students in 4Do received the chance to experiment with our MCPE funded Pro-Bots.
Wow, the students learn so quickly!

Term II Report Cards

This Tuesday (April 5th) students will bring home their report cards for the second term.   If you have any questions about your child's work or the report card, please start by having a conversation with your child.  If questions still exist, please contact the teacher directly to gain more insight.

This week students in 5B explored how to divide a whole number by a unit fraction. For a tactile learning experience, students created their own word problems and modeled the division using post-its. Each post-it was equal to one whole and students partitioned the post-its into fractional pieces depending on the problem they created. Students created a mini poster with their word problem, answer, and model. When finished, students presented their problems to one another and they were hung in the hallway as a new bulletin board display! Great work!

Thank you to students in 5W for sharing their incredible coding projects!  What talent!
