March 4, 2016 - Week 25

Hello Dale Street Community!

What a week!  Please take a minute to scroll through and see some of the amazing things that took place at Dale Street this week!

Mr. Mason's fifth grade students began the week working on social studies reports.  These super talented students were using Book Creator and Google Slides to create their reports.

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referrals!
Thank you for making our school such a great place!

On Wednesday, our school celebrated Dr. Seuss Day.  Thank you to our guest readers: Superintendent, Dr. Marsden, Fire Chief, Bill Kingsbury, Police Chief, Bob Meaney, School Committee members Tim Bonfatti, Eileen DeSisto, Anna Mae O'Shea Brooke, and Maryanne Sullivan, owner of Park Street Books, Jim James, Director of Curriculum, Kim Cave, Director of Student Services, Matt LaCava, HS Principal, Robert Parga, MS Principal, Nat Vaughn, Medfield Children's Librarian, Kim Tolson, and retired Dale Street Reading Specialist, Anne Pendleton.  A very special thank you to Dale Street's library assistant, Mrs. Susan Read and administrative assistant, Mrs. Martha Moon for helping organize this wonderful day for our school.

It was a pleasure to meet with parents during Term II's Principal's Coffee this morning. The topic of discussion was the placement process. Thank you to all who were able to attend and to the food service staff who provided coffee and snacks. If you were unable to attend, the PowerPoint can be found on the Dale Street website. The next Principal's Coffee will be held on May 6th. I hope to see you there.

On Wednesday this week students working in tribes from the Condon and Curran classes completed an engineering challenge: Construct a 30 inch tower using materials such as 100 index cards and 12 inches of tape. Mrs. Curran and Ms. Condon discussed and stressed with their students the Engineering Design and how important it is to test and redesign (and often retest). What perseverance!

Great creativity!

Officer Manganello has been visiting our fifth grade classes during the past few weeks. She has been and will be talking about her position as a police officer, personal safety, stranger danger, and cyber safety.  We are grateful to Officer Manganello and the Medfield Police Department for our working partnership!
