December 18, 2015 - Week 16

Dear Dale Street Families,

Congratulations and great job to the Dale Street Bands!  On Monday, the fourth and fifth grades bands performed for their family and guests.  The music was fantastic and all of the attendees enjoyed the performance.  Thank you to Mr. Dexter, Mr. Curbow, Mrs. Oxholm, and Mr. Ruggiero for their outstanding leadership.

Positive Referrals!!!

These students received a Positive Referral this week for being such positive school citizens.  Keep up the good work!

Term 1 Report Cards

This Tuesday (12/22) students will bring home their report cards for the first term.   If you have any questions about your child's work or the report card, please start by having a conversation with your child.  If questions still exist, please contact the teacher directly to gain more insight.

PreK-5 teachers participated in a mini digital learning day at Wheelock on Wednesday afternoon. With five different offerings to choose from, teachers were able to differentiate their own learning based on their individual and student needs.  Check out some snapshots of the day.

Are you looking for a way to let your child's teacher, a school staff member, a coach, a bus driver or an administrator know just how much you and your child appreciate them? Consider MCPE's Blue Ribbon Program. It is an easy and thoughtful way to recognize the efforts of a member of our school community during the holiday season. Each person recognized with a donation will receive a card, customized with a thank you note from you, indicating that a donation was made in his or her honor. To learn more, please click on: medfieldcoalition.org/events-programs/blue-ribbon-program/.

The MCPE Board is so thankful for the incredible support the Medfield community gives to the Coalition. So far this school year, MCPE has funded more than $60,000 in grants to teachers and administrators. As 2015 comes to a close, please consider making a year-end gift to the MCPE Annual Appeal and invest in your child's education. Help us continue our mission of funding grants that support academic enrichment programs not covered by the school budget.
To make a donation to the Annual Appeal please visit www.medfieldcoalition.org.

Special thanks to Mrs. Evans and her students for stopping by the office this week and sharing some wonderful holiday music!  You sounded amazing!

The Holiday Mall and the Holiday Flea Market were incredible successes this week at the Dale Street School. These events both benefit the Medfield Home Committee.  I am honored to report that these two events raised just under $3,000.00!  Wow!  Thank you to all of the students, families, and staff who supported this wonderful cause.

A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone that volunteered or donated items to the MOVIE on the HALF DAY!  Fun was had by all!  We appreciate your support.

HOLIDAY CONTRIBUTIONS - Feel like giving to your favorite PTO?  Does your employer match charitable donations? If so, please contact Stephanie Walsh at swalshma@gmail.com for details on how to make your generosity during this season twice as nice!

BOX TOP COORDINATOR NEEDED - Dale St. PTO is looking for a volunteer parent to take over the running of the Box Tops for Education Program.  For the last few years the program was part of the Student Advisory Group; prior to that it went through Dale Street Delivers. The coordinator will create an account for Dale Street School and oversee the cutting, counting and mailing in of the box tops with the help of student volunteers.  For more info visit  http://www.boxtops4education.com/how-box-tops-works  Please contact  Siobhan Dennehy dennehy4@verizon.net if you are interested in this position.

THANK YOU FUND - Stop searching for the perfect holiday gift for your teacher!  Here is an easy way to thank your child’s teacher during the holiday season. Make a contribution to their THANK YOU FUND!  Anyone may contribute a financial gift to any teacher’s THANK YOU FUND.  The teacher can use these funds to purchase books, games, supplies and other things for their classroom as needed.  This is a great way to give your child’s teacher a little extra something that will benefit both the teacher and the children in their class.  This is particularly useful for “specials” teachers that do not receive classroom gifts. This is all you need to do to contribute to a teacher’s THANK YOU FUND:

·          Write a check payable to DALE STREET PTO with a note in the memo line designating which teacher’s fund you are contributing to
·          Send the check to school in an envelope with your child and include Nancy Thomson’s name on the envelope
·          You can also mail the check directly to Nancy Thomson 52 Cypress Street
·          You will be given a note that your child can give to their teacher letting them know you contributed to their fund or a note can be sent on your behalf
Contact the Dale Street Treasurer, Nancy Thomson nancyandgreg@comcast.net with any questions.

Wow!  I just want to thank everybody for all of their time and effort in making the teacher appreciation luncheon a success. I know this is an extremely busy time of year so I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all of your time and effort. The teachers were thrilled.
Happy holidays, Marissa Jowdy

P.S.all of the utensils and dishes are in the teachers lounge for pick up.

Happy Holidays to Dale Street!

Even during this busy time of year, parents of Dale Street students have been so supportive in contributing their time and donations. Case in point with Wednesday’s Movie on the half day and Teacher Holiday Luncheon. It was overwhelming the amount of contributions we had for each event. The Dale Street PTO is so grateful to have such wonderful parents who have supported all PTO sponsored events this school year and we would like to thank you all for your support and wish you and your families a happy holiday season.

Thank you to Mr. Doug Olson and the High School Jazz Band for visiting the Dale Street today.  What a group of phenomenal musicians!

Happy Holidays from the Dale Street School! We hope that you enjoy some time with your family and friends during the break from school. As a reminder, the Dale Street School will be open regular hours on Wednesday, December 23, 2015. There will be no school for students on Thursday, December 24, 2015, through Sunday, January 3, 2016. Students will return to school on Monday, January 4, 2016.

Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2016!

Yours truly,
