October 2, 2015 - Week 5

Hello Dale Street,

Responsibility is our character theme for October.  Thank you to Mrs. Foley, Mrs. Brenton, and Mrs. Foley's students for creating this awesome board!

Congratulations to the students who were selected to serve on this year's Student Advisory Council as well as our Student Advisory Council alternates.  Thank you to all the boys and girls who submitted a letter of interest.  Although some students may not have been selected to serve on this year's council, we hope they will be active leaders bringing about creative ideas in their classrooms.

On Thursday, students at Dale Street took part in a Confucius Celebration.  Students had the opportunity to interact with Chinese Folk Dance, Folk Instruments, Brush Painting, Tai Chi, and more.  Special thanks to Ms. Zhang for organizing this wonderful presentation!

Vision Screening will take place next week, Monday, 10/5, Wednesday, 10/7, and Thursday, 10/8 during Physical Education classes. Please remind students who have glasses to bring them to the screening. If you do not want to have your child participate in the screening, please notify the nurse by sending in a note or by email

Congratulations to our Positive Referral this week.  Thank you for making our school such a great place!   We are very proud of you!

In Art this week, Grade 5 students used rulers to better understand the foundation, or underpinnings, of structure.  Students observed the Police/Fire construction site from our school, and drew the iron beams, construction site objects, and the shell of the Police and Fire department.  Bravo to these talented students!

Please consider visiting Park Street Books on Wednesday, October 7th between 10 AM and 7 PM for this year's Dale Street Book Fair.  20% of all proceeds will go directly back to the Dale Street School.  In addition, staff will be reading stories during the afternoon.  I am scheduled to read at 3:15 PM.  I hope to see you all there.

Be on the lookout.....school pictures were sent home this afternoon.  As a reminder, picture retake day will be on Wednesday, October 14th.

Thank you to Evan in Mr. Douglas' class for sharing his photo album with me today.

During some C-Squared Team Time, students in Mrs. Curran's and Ms. Condon's fifth grade classrooms participated in a collaborative listening skills activity.
