March 7, 2025 - Week 25

 Hello Dale Street Community!

What a fantastic week here at #beproudbedale! This week's blog is jam-packed and full of awesomeness and contains helpful information and dates for our students and families. Take a peek...

Students had a blast celebrating Read Across America Week! Every classroom had the opportunity to have a guest reader join them on Tuesday. It was quite a memorable experience to have well-known Medfield community members join us in our classrooms. We are so thankful for the local legends who helped us celebrate reading!

A big thank you to this special group of fifth graders who created a 'Take a Break Chair' in the main hallway. They used the giant legos (Thank you, MCPE!) to create a seat for anyone who needed a quick break. Poems were left by the seat to read.

Students engaged in various reading activities in their classrooms and in the library all week. A big highlight of the week was the reveal of the books that will compete in our Battle of the Books competition!  This is a special tradition we have at Dale. Students are getting to know these amazing books and we will vote to decide our top contender through the month of March, our own special book version of March Madness! Stay tuned to find out the winner at the end of the month!

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referrals!

A Moment in Music

Beautifully in-tune A Cappella singing was captured this week during the 5th Grade Ensemble rehearsal. Singers use solfege syllables (Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti) when reading music because it helps with ear training, sight-singing, and musical literacy. The Dale Street Chorus is composed of 4th & 5th-grade singers who love to be in the spotlight! Their weekly dedication, teamwork, and enthusiasm do not go unnoticed!

The Round of 32 of our March Madness Tournament begins next week. Preliminary Round scores will be posted in the cafeteria on Monday at lunch. Students and staff who made it to the Round of 32 will need to shoot 10 free throws during one of the following days (it doesn't matter the grade): Tuesday, 3/11 or Friday, 3/14, between 7:50 a.m. - 8:20 a.m. Please note that all team members do not have to come on the same day, but all participants must shoot their free throws by Friday, 3/14.

Congratulations to Dale Street's Artist of the Month for March!

Elementary Principals Webinar

On March 26th at 4:00 PM, the Elementary Principals will host an informational webinar (link below) for families regarding the student placement process for the 2025-2026 school year. This session will provide an overview of the placement process, including details on the optional placement input Google Form, which will replace the parent narrative this year. The webinar will be recorded and shared for those unable to attend or who wish to review the information later. If you have specific questions or topics you would like addressed during the webinar, please submit them using this form by Sunday, March 23rd.

This week, Mrs. Scott’s class took a field trip to Math Specialist Mrs. Perachi’s classroom! 📏 Students had a blast bringing measurement conversions to life through hands-on learning.

Early Release - Staff Professional Development

Please note that next Tuesday, March 11th is an early release day.

Fourth-grade Spanish students in Señora Spittel's classes are learning about seasons, weather, and clothing needed for various related occasions. On one of our spirit days this week, three students happened to showcase three different kinds of hats and helped teach their classmates using their outfits!
