January 17, 2025 - Week 19

 Hello Dale Street Families,

What an amazing week it has been at #beproudbedale! This week there were so many great things happening in and out of the classrooms.  I am so proud of our outstanding students and dedicated teachers. They are such a joy to be around each day! I encourage everyone to explore this week's blog and stay informed.

This morning Dale Street held a Hero Day assembly.  Students heard about heroes, watched a short video, and one student from each classroom shared about their own hero. Students and staff were invited to dress up like their heroes.  Special thanks to our student readers and the Student Council representatives for facilitating the assembly.

It was a treat visiting Mrs. Burnham's fifth-grade class on Wednesday to watch their play about the Boston Massacre. The students were outstanding in bringing history to life! πŸ‘

On Thursday, we celebrated with a Positive Referral breakfast. Thank you to all of the families who attended and special thanks to our cafeteria staff for providing the delicious refreshments. Congratulations to all of the Positive Referrals who attended the breakfast and congratulations to all who earned a Positive Referral so far this year!

This week, Mrs. Dowd's 4th-grade class worked with Mr. Ahern to design and build spaceships using MCPE-funded VEX GO materials. Collaboration, creativity, and engineering skills were on full display—future engineers in the making! πŸš€πŸ€–

Kudos to our talented Dale Street musicians! 🎢 On Thursday night, our 4th and 5th-grade bands performed for their families and guests. Their music was great, and the audience truly enjoyed the evening. A big thank you to Mr. Bielik, Mr. Dexter, and Mrs. Tumbleson for their guidance and dedication! 🎺πŸ₯

Trivia Night registration is now open on the MCPE website! This popular MCPE event will take place Thursday, January 30th at the American Legion in Dover, from 7:30 - 9:30 pm with doors opening at 7pm. Tickets are $50/person, for teams of 4 to 6 members. WE ARE DETERMINED!

This week in Social Studies, Mrs. Kaplan and Mrs. Seaver’s 5th graders teamed up for a Declaration of Independence scavenger hunt! πŸ•΅️‍♂️πŸ“œ What a fun and engaging way to dive deeper into this pivotal document!

Dear Parents,

The Blake Middle School is holding a blood drive on Monday, January 20th, from 8am-2pm. It is run by our students and the American Red Cross. The goal is to help teach students that MLK day is a day of service, rather than a "day off". We are off to a good start with people coming in to donate, but we are pretty far from our goal and need your help. Please consider donating blood. We have the best food recovery table around, and we have a mother's helper station for those who need to bring their kiddos along.

If you have any questions regarding the blood drive please feel free to contact, Cynthia McClelland at cmcclelland@email.medfield.net

 Hello Dale Street!

Our first full school week of 2025 was a busy (and COLD) one. Please take a few minutes and check out some of the scenes from this week and take a look at some upcoming events.

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referral!!!

Congratulations to Ayla for winning Dale Street's lunch menu contest! Ayla designed an awesome, balanced lunch featuring fruits, vegetables, grains, and protein. If you create, you should get the chance to serve!

PreK-5 Spirit Day on January 17th - Hero Day

On Friday, January 17th, Grade 4 and 5 students and staff will be invited to

dress up like their hero or wear an item of clothing that promotes a positive message such as Be Kind, Kindness Matters, etc… Students will be learning that a hero is someone who is special because of the brave, good, or kind things that they have done. We will celebrate Hero Day by having a school-wide assembly during which one student from each classroom will be reading about their hero.

Decimals can be tricky, but Ms. Sager's fifth graders jumped right in this week as they dug deeper into understanding them. So proud of their hard work and progress!
