Hello Dale Street Community!
Week 2 was another fabulous one here at #beproudbedale. A lot of project-based learning, the start of instruments, and our first fire drill. It has really been a great start!
Congratulations to this week's Positive Referrals!

Positive Sign Thursday!
'YOU ARE IMPORTANT!'
Dale Street will celebrate International Dot Day (people around the world connecting, collaborating, creating, and celebrating all that creativity inspires) on Thursday, September 15th. Please join us in wearing “dots” to school on Thursday, September 15th. Participation is optional but encouraged!
It was so great to have small group and ensemble lessons begin this week at #beproudbedale. Students received their instruments on Wednesday evening and there were a lot of happy students to begin music.
On Wednesday, students and staff practiced our first fire drill of the school year. Everyone did an amazing job! We will do these drills randomly throughout the year to allow all kids to practice.
In Ms. Plympton's fourth-grade class this week, students were scientists as they noticed, wondered, and explored. #funlearning
Parent Information Night (PIN) is scheduled for Thursday, September 22nd. Grade 4 parents/guardians will meet in their child’s classroom from 6:00-6:45 PM and Grade 5 parents/guardians will meet in their child’s classroom from 6:45 - 7:30 PM. Special subject teachers and specialists will be available from 6:30-7:15 PM.
Dale Street is looking for volunteers (one representative and one alternate from each classroom) who would like to talk with their classmates about concerns/initiatives in their classroom or the school. These concerns/initiatives are discussed and tackled at our meetings in an effort to make our school a better place. If your child is interested, here is the information they need to know. All completed letters of interest are due by Friday, September 16th, and should be turned in to the student's classroom teacher.
Today, grade 4 students in Ms. DiPesa's class and Mrs, Scott's class had the opportunity to 'taste' a lot of different books from different genres in their classroom libraries. What a creative and fun experience for students!
If you have not already done so, please send in a student physical if you have a child currently in Grade 4. Thank you!
I am excited to share that the three elementary schools will participate in the same Spirit Days this year on the same days. Our first Spirit Day will be on Friday, September 23rd. Here is the School Spirit calendar for the year. Spirit day participation is voluntary.
Dale Street reading specialists, Mrs. Callahan and Mrs. Bassett continued to visit classrooms this week to share read-alouds and work on word-building skills with students in grades 4 and 5. The students in Mrs. Flynn's fourth-grade classroom and Mrs. Chamblin's fifth-grade classroom loved having them visit.
Parents dropping off children at Dale Street should drop students off in the parking lot between Dale Street and the Pfaff center after 8:10 a.m. There is no supervision prior to 8:10 a.m. Students should not be dropped off at the door located on Adams Street unless they are arriving late to school (after 8:25 a.m.).
Be sure to label all items: clothing, water bottles, etc.! All unclaimed items in the Lost and Found will be donated to charity periodically throughout the year.
PICTURE DAY IS COMING!
Tuesday, September 20th is Picture Day! More
information to follow.
Thank you for reading this week's blog. Please check back again next Friday.
Steve
