We missed seeing all of our rockstar students today. However, I understand and support the decision to keep them home. I have spent many years as an educator and this is one of the most unusual times I have ever experienced. Please stay tuned for continued timely updates from Dr. Marsden. Stay healthy everyone!
On Monday, students in Ms. Isaacson's fourth-grade class used the time to learn more about 'point of view'. Students used our Walking Classroom to connect exercise and the learning they are doing in reader's and writer's workshops.
This week with Ms. Warner, students in grade 5 worked on problem-solving strategies using Harmony, our social-emotional learning curriculum. Students used examples of problems, selected realistic solutions, and determined the solutions' effectiveness.
Bravo to students in Ms. Sager's fifth-grade class! On Wednesday, students were so engaged as they checked out each other’s informational books! What amazing finished projects!

Thank you from Boston Children's Hospital
Dear students and staff at the Dale Street School,
Child Life Services at Boston Children's Hospital would like to thank you for your generous donation. Your thoughtfulness brought so much joy to our patients and families.
Being in the hospital can be a difficult time for children and their families. Your donation allows us to help bring smiles and wonder to all those who receive care at BCH.
With much gratitude,
Child Life Services
DI Dudes participated in the "In the Cards" engineering challenge. They had to build a bridge out of playing cards and duck tape. The bridge had to span between two bases and pass over a barrier. They then had to successfully move a load by technical method across the bridge, all while performing a skit that they created themselves.
The DI Divas did the "It's About Time" service project. For their project, they had to select and deliver a community service engagement. The girls decided to do something on climate change. They evaluated a number of different options in partnership with the principal at Dale Street. In the end, they decided to eliminate the plastic straws in the cafeteria and put up some posters to raise awareness in the school. This helped reduce plastic waste, save money for the school, with no drawbacks from the students. A win all around.
Congratulations to these 2 Dale Street Destination Imagination teams who came in first in their challenge divisions, qualifying both teams for the State tournament to be held in Worcester later this month. We are so happy for and proud of each one of these wonderful students. It is a fantastic accomplishment and we wish them the best of luck in the State tournament!

Dale Street School celebrates the 3rd annual Tournament of Books!
The vision for this year’s March Madness-style reading celebration is inspired by the important work of We Need Diverse Books. The brackets will be filled with the creators and stories that, “reflect and honor the lives of all people.” No matter which title comes in first place, we know that books always win-- no matter what! Students are encouraged to read as many of the 8 choices as possible before the "Elite Eight" brackets are set.
Check out these slides for specific book information.
Happy reading!
In light of the unfolding situation with COVID-19, this year's MCPE Spelling Bee is canceled. We are sad to miss this fun event, but we support all the steps being taken by the District to keep our town safe. If you have already registered, your registration cost (including fees) will be refunded in the next two weeks. You will receive an email when that is completed. Thank you for your understanding.
