September 13, 2019 - Week 3

Happy Friday Dale Street!

Our first five day school week with students was fantastic!  This week included classroom discussions highlighting kindness and compassion, school picture day and International Dot Day and a lot of fun learning.  Take a look....

Today Dale Street students celebrated International Dot Day.  It is so important to celebrate students' creativity!

On Monday, students in Mrs. Nee's fifth grade classroom used our Walking Classroom to gain more information about the Constitution!  What a fun and fit way to learn!

Congratulations to this week's Positive Referral!  This student truly exemplified being respectful and helpful!  Way to go!

Grade 5 students in Ms. Sager's class and Ms. Condon's class worked with the Earth and Space Sciences standards this week while studying the patterns and daily changes in the length and direction of shadows.

Thank you to all families who have set up their child's dismissal procedures in School Dismissal Manager.  If you have not done so yet, please do this as soon as possible.  It is a huge help as it makes dismissal safe, effective and efficient.

Thank you to Jackson in Ms. Isaacson's class for sharing this week's book review.  Jackson recommended El Deafo by CeCe Bell.  This book inspired him because it 'tells that you should not be mean to other people even though they are different than you.'  Thanks Jackson!

What a blast it has been this week and last!  I have had the great fortune of reading in each classroom here at Dale Street. I have been reading the book Dolphins in Trees by Aaron L. Polansky to our fourth and fifth graders.  We have had some wonderful conversations about why it is important to always choose kind and that all of us has the potential to make a difference in the world of others. Please ask you child(ren) how they liked the book.

This week Mr. Douglas' and Ms. Hayes' fourth grade students participated in math workshops.  Great to see the engagement and great to see the #collaboration!

Our Makerspace is one of the fabulous areas within our school. Classrooms will begin visiting the Makerspace next week.  We are looking for a few items to help bolster our Makerspace supplies.  If you could send any of these items in with your child/children, we would be very grateful.  Items can be brought to Mrs. Lowerre in the Makerspace
Thank you!

This week, students in Ms. Isaacson's fourth grade class received a visit from Dale Street math specialist, Mrs. Perachi.  These young learners had a blast learning the multiplication game 'Hip Hip Array'.  So fun!
