On Thursday, our school held its last Principal's Coffee of the year.  School Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Kathy Bockhorst and Music Teacher, Mr. Keith Curbow were our guest speakers.  Mrs. Bockhorst and Mr. Curbow outlined some strategies to help parents handle stressful/anxious situations that may arise during the summer months. Thank you to all of the parents who took time out of their busy schedules to attend today's coffee, Mrs. Bockhorst and Mr. Curbow for presenting at the coffee, and our food service department for supplying the delicious refreshments.

Grade 5 will have their celebration on Tuesday, June 21st at 10:00 AM in the Dale Street Gymnasium.

Transition day will be held on Wednesday, June 22nd.  Children will spend approximately 30 minutes in their new teacher's classroom, get a chance to meet their new classmates, and hear a little about what's to come in September.

Please join us on as we celebrate our final spirit day of the 2015-2016 school year.  Dale Street will be collecting items to donate to the Medfield Food Cupboard up through Friday, June 17th.  Items we will be collecting are:

Sunscreen
Bug spray
Lip sunblock
Freeze pops
Salty individual snacks
Sweet individual snacks
Juice boxes

There will be a collection bin in each classroom.  We hope you can contribute by donating to the Medfield Food Cupboard and join us in helping others.

To celebrate a week and a half of great fundraising, we will be having a Spirit Day on Friday, June 17th.  The Spirit Day we will be hosting is Decades Day.  Feel free to dress up from the past, present or what you think the future may be like.  As always, Spirit Day is optional, but we encourage staff and students to participate.

We hope you all consider participating in this fun and worthwhile event.

SUMMER SKILLS
Many students have found it beneficial to work on strengthening math and/or language arts skills over the summer months.  For many years we have used a series of workbooks published by a company called Summer Skills.  These books have been successful in helping students practice and sharpen their skills.  Please be aware that some questions contained in the workbooks may cover topics that have been introduced but not yet mastered.  As a school, we feel that summer work is beneficial, as studies show that much of what is learned during the school year is lost over the summer months; however, this book is entirely OPTIONAL.  For more information, click here or go to www.SummerSkills.com

Thank you for taking time to check the blog!

Best wishes for a wonderful weekend,
Steve
