Hello Dale Street Community,
What an awesome week here at Dale Street! Students and staff displayed their rockstar qualities both inside and outside the building. We have a wonderful, but busy, week ahead. Please take a few minutes to scroll through the blog to stay connected and up to date on all the happenings.
Engineering alert! This week students in Mrs. Gutierrez's class worked hard designing earthquake-resistant buildings using coffee straws & marshmallows! Their creativity & collaboration are awesome!
Congratulations to this week's Positive Referrals!
Holiday Celebrations - Enjoy a “Party in a Bag!” Have your child decorate a brown paper lunch bag with a holiday theme. Once decorated, fill it with a few of your child’s favorite food items. Some examples are: juice box or mini water bottle, small salty snack, fun sweet snack (cupcake, cookie), additional items could be a piece of fruit, a small yogurt, or any additional healthy snack. Adding a little note to your child's bag will definitely make them happy! Students will be able to enjoy their “Party in a Bag” snacks at their designated snack time on either December 19th or December 20th. Be on the lookout for specific information from your child's classroom teacher.
Fifth graders had an opportunity to demonstrate their engineering skills with Mr. Ahern this week. Students worked collaboratively to plan and build a moving vehicle using parts from the MCPE-funded VexGo kits. Creativity was very evident in the design process!
Thanks to our Friday DJs who kept the lunchroom rockin' today.

Funds raised at events like last month’s Fall Ball are how MCPE is able to provide grants to enrich education at Medfield Public Schools. Grants are awarded in three cycles throughout each school year – Fall, Winter, and Spring – and we are excited to share the results of MCPE’s first grant cycle of 2024-2025. Through your generosity, MCPE was able to award $13,000 in funds for three grants to educators and administrators across three schools this fall!! 🥳
🏆📖 Button maker and supplies for the Wheelock School reading incentive program, providing tangible rewards in the form of customized and collectible buttons that celebrate reading achievements. The earned buttons awarded each month for reading goals will be an integral part of Wheelock’s reading incentive program, enhancing student motivation, fostering a community of readers, and promoting lifelong reading habits. With this new program, students will be encouraged to read for pleasure, and they can proudly showcase their commitment to their own reading journey and gain recognition for their efforts.
🦇🦋🐝 Materials for a hands-on environmental science program at Blake Middle School, building bat boxes, planting pollinator gardens, and distributing hummingbird feeders. Students will deepen their understanding of environmental science by participating in unique, real-world lessons and hands-on activities that connect directly to the local environment. Students will support local pollinator populations and gain practical experience in promoting biodiversity, fostering environmental stewardship, and learning about the critical role pollinators play in ecosystems right in their own backyard.
🦮 GoFi therapy dog for Medfield High School, to support student well-being, enhance emotional support, and foster a sense of community. The dog will be available for students throughout the school day as a familiar and comforting presence, which will help improve their emotional resilience, provide motivation, and connect the school community. The presence of the therapy dog will be a reliable sense of comfort and connection during stressful periods, reducing anxiety and improving mental health. The creation of a supportive environment enhances all students’ ability to focus, learn, think critically and problem solve.
Community donations throughout the year are also critical so that we can fund more projects in future grant cycles. As a designated non-profit organization, donations to MCPE are tax-deductible, and you can contribute either at our website medfieldcoalition.org or through Venmo: mcpe_medfield.
Thank you and happy holidays!
Shout out to these Dale Street ROCKSTARS: Anna W. (along with her brother and neighbor) who purchased food for the Food Cupboard and brought it in earlier this week to donate and Jay D. who collected donations in lieu of birthday presents for his 10th birthday, Way to go!
I had the pleasure of sitting in on an incredible discussion in Mrs. Buff's fifth-grade class this week about the book they just completed. I was so impressed with the thoughtful perspectives students shared.
Dale Street will host a Holiday Flea Market on Tuesday, December 17th. Classes will visit Mr. Douglas' and Mrs. Flynn's classrooms at a designated time and have the opportunity to purchase a trinket for themselves or someone else. All proceeds will benefit the Medfield Home Committee.
