June 13, 2024 - Final Day

Happy Summer Dale Street Community!

What an amazing year!  I would like to take a moment to express my gratitude to all the students and staff members who have demonstrated hard work, a commitment to excellence, and an unwavering spirit each day to #beproudbedale.  It has been so great to see and so great to be a part of.  I also want to thank all of the families for being a part of our journey.  It most certainly takes a village!  Please enjoy the final blog of the '23-'24 school year.

Congratulations to our 5th graders!

On Tuesday, our Grade 5 students participated in Dale Street's Grade 5 Celebration. It was a great event!  Special thanks to Mr. Grace - your message was fabulous and all of the students who spoke/sang at the ceremony - you crushed it! Here are a few snapshots from the day.

Being helpful right to the end...these fifth graders continued to do their part to ensure that recycling goes smoothly.  Thank you for modeling our Core Values of Respect and Responsibility!

Fourth-grade students in Ms. Spittel's class worked in stations, one of which where they ordered pages from a Spanish story in small groups to demonstrate their understanding!

Fifth-grade students in Ms. LeVangie and Ms. Spittel's class created a slide about an animal from the Galapagos they researched in Spanish!

Special thanks to Blake Middle School students for visiting Dale Street this week to present 'Creature Features.'  These students truly did a fantastic job and it was so cool to have Dale Street alumni back at our school.

Last day of school, and I just received the most beautifully written poem about me as a principal from Reuben. This was incredibly humbling and a great reminder of why I do what I do. Thank you, Reuben!

June 7, 2024 - Week 39

Hello Dale Street Community,

What a fantastic week here at #beproudbedale!  So many incredible things happened. It is amazing to think there are only 3 and a half days remaining in the '23-'24 school year.  Time certainly flies when you are having fun!

On Tuesday, the weather was perfect for the students to participate in an exciting Field Day.  Mrs. Nawrocki and Ms. Laughna worked hard to organize a successful day, leaving students with great memories.  This fantastic event served as a reminder of the importance of play, teamwork, and the sheer joy of being a part of the vibrant and supportive Dale Street community.

Check out Tuesday's Grade 5 Egg Drop! Students played the role of design engineers to create contraptions that would safely hold an egg. We have very talented students with such creative ideas!

Positive Sign Thursday!

'WE RISE BY LIFTING OTHERS!'

As we close out the 2023-2024 school year, we want to say a huge thank you to our PTO, MCPE, and SEPAC for supporting the many programs, initiatives, and speakers that were brought to Dale Street and our district as a whole. We are so incredibly lucky!

Please save the date of Tuesday, June 11th at 9:30 a.m. for Dale Street's Grade 5 Celebration. This year, the Grade 5 Celebration will take place on the basketball court outdoors and we are hoping for dry and nice weather. Grade 5 families are welcome and we are asking that all guests bring a lawn chair for seating in an area off the pavement. If there is inclement weather on this day, the celebration will be held in the gymnasium. If this is the case, we will only be able to welcome 2 guests per family for the celebration.

Celebration Invite

Special thanks to Wyatt in Ms. Hayes' fourth-grade class who served as 'Principal for the Day' on Thursday.  He was super helpful and ran the school awesomely!

Transition Day for current Grade 4 & Grade 5 students will be held on Wednesday, June 12th. Grade 5 students will ride the bus over to Blake Middle School in the morning where they meet their cluster teachers and learn a little more about next year before returning to Dale Street for the remainder of the school day. Grade 4 students will visit their new fifth-grade teacher and classmates and learn a little about why Grade 5 is so great before returning to their Grade 4 classrooms for the remainder of their day. A welcome email from your child’s new teacher will be shared with families on Wednesday afternoon.

Rockstar 5th graders used their engineering skills again this week to build a boat that would float and hold a roll of pennies. Students also had a budget and could only “buy” certain building materials.  Great way to end an amazing year in Makerspace!

Congratulations to our Dale Street musicians on their very successful concerts this week. Their hard work all year long certainly paid off!  Special thanks to all of our talented and dedicated music teachers!

Dale Street Summer Reading - 2024

We celebrated a Positive Referral breakfast yesterday. Thank you to all of the families who attended and special thanks to our cafeteria staff for providing the delicious refreshments. Congratulations to all of the Positive Referrals who attended the breakfast and congratulations to all who earned a Positive Referral this year!

Congratulations to the Dale Girls on the Run team for a successful spring season. This group of 4th grade girls honed their inner strength and increased their level of physical activity through bi-weekly activities, a Community Impact Project (check out the beautiful flowers around the Dale trees in front of the pillars), and completing a 5K at their own pace.  Way to go, girls- keep shining!

Report Cards will be available for viewing on the Aspen Parent Portal on Thursday, June 14th at 11:30 AM.

On Thursday and Friday, Bedhead Ted author/illustrator, Scott SanGiacomo visited Dale Street and shared wonderful messages about following your dreams and starting with a shape. It was so great to have all students hear these important messages.  Thank you to our fantastic PTO for providing this wonderful opportunity for our students.
